An Exclusive Podcast for CHCs, FQHCs, LALs, & PCAs

In 1960, President Lyndon Johnson proposed the Economic Opportunity Act which included the start of Neighborhood Health Centers for underprivileged people to help counteract the War on Poverty.  In 1964, the government passed a special Community Health Center Program under Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act which included information to help the public understand the purpose for Community Health Centers to focus on underserved patients.  Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) was not coined until 1989, and during that year FQHCs were added as an important Medicare benefit, expanded programs serving homeless and migrants, and defined the purpose of the FQHCs to provide primary care in underserved rural and urban communities.  

Today, FQHCs serve over 20 million patients a year through over 1,300 FQHCs with over 14,000 LALs and Service Sites in the United States.  FQHCs have and continue to revolutionize health care in the United States.  At The CHC Podcast, we are honored to partner with FQHCs across the country to start the conversation around moving healthcare forward.
